SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is that factor which separates a successful business website from an unsuccessful one. Either you indulge in SEO tactics or you make a mess of your entire digital media efforts. It’s one of the most important that you have to do on your website if your aiming for enlarge your digital presence over a span of time. And to make the most of your SEO campaign, you need to indulge in some serious SEO content writing. However, there are occasions when the entire SEO strategy went upside down because the quality of the content that was being produced to provide added mileage to a particular website was below average. So you just can’t stuff bundles of information in a piece and add a bit of spice with a few keywords and hyper-links, and think it’s good to go. It will definitely kill your website, if not right now but in the near future. So you got to be extremely careful with the quality of text you produce for SEO purposes.

Given below are 3 simple tips to help you create great SEO content. These are suggestions which I had picked up from the experts when interacting with them, and then implemented them in my own work. Results did follow eventually. So I’m quite optimistic that these 3 pointers will help you add more fuel to your digital marketing activities, as you are able to boost your in-house SEO efforts.

Firstly, keep it simple and straight forward. When you are writing SEO content, there’s no point in beating around the bush. Hit the nail straight on its head, and keep the language simple. It will be easy for you to insert keywords, and at the same time, it will also help your pieces to get good exposure when submitted on different online forums or directories.

Be careful when playing around with keywords. First you need to have relevant keywords sorted and listed and then these keywords need to be included in the texts that you create not all at once, but distributed evenly and wisely. Also, when you are creating the content, the keywords need to spread evenly throughout the entire body of the document, and the distribution strictly depends on the word count of the piece that you have created.

Finally, the hyper-linking has to be done carefully. You can’t just put in hyper-links wherever you feel like. It has to be inserted wisely and according to the strength of the keywords used.

OK, I’m sure you see my point – there seem to be more questions out there than answers. And then if you do get answers, they sometimes conflict with what another SEO firm told you already or what you read in an article last month, or what your friend’s little brother did on his site that made him rich overnight. (Don’t laugh; we hear those stories all the time)

I’m here to answer these questions, in total and complete honesty. Are you ready? The answer is actually simple and applies to ALL of the questions above as well as any other question you may ask.

The answer is:

It doesn’t matter… because you are asking the wrong question!

OK, so what is the right question?

Don’t worry – I will tell you – the question is: Are you in the 64% or the 36% group?

Now for the answer …

I Don’t Know…Only You Know the Answer (and have to deal with the results).

Let me explain….

There was recently a study on the results of company’s outsourcing SEO (September 2005, by Jupiter). The results may seem shocking, but it is something we see every day in this business.

The study shows that 64% of companies that choose to outsource their SEO do not follow the instructions of the Digital Marketing Company they hired! I am going to repeat that again so the full impact reaches you — 64% of companies that choose to outsource their SEO do not follow the instructions of the SEO firm they hired!

They recognize the need for traffic (OK, off to a good start). They did their research and selected a company (nice, moving forward) and they plunk down the money (and if it’s an SEO company that’s any good, it wasn’t just pennies either). So far it all sounds good. What happens next –

it all falls apart.

The Seo Company does their analysis of your site and situation, they share with you the most basic items to be fixed (which are often easy to fix with just a little attention) – they tell you this is of the utmost importance, it is the foundation of your whole campaign.

And what do you do?

That depends – are you in the 64% that does nothing and ends up asking all the wrong questions and whining months later when you are still nowhere? Or are you in the 36% that take action, treats their website and their business with the seriousness and commitment it deserves and then get to work with the SEO company to open the floodgates of traffic SEO can deliver? It’s simple and it’s your choice.

After you have made the commitment to be one of the 36% (something to ponder: how many of your competitors are in the 64% asking the wrong questions and doing nothing – and how quickly can you by-pass them when you are one of the 36% doing it right?) and you have taken the steps necessary to lay the foundation for a solid SEO campaign, you can then sit back and watch the company you hired, with their proven expertise bring in the rankings you desire.

Please understand, I write this article with a little humor to show the absurdity of the situation. I mean, would you hire a mechanic and then refuse to fix what he determined is the problem? No – you probably wouldn’t. I want you to understand not following your SEO Firm’s instructions can be just as detrimental to your business as ignoring a mechanic’s suggestion to fix that smoke coming out of the engine can be to your car.

The more SEO changes, the more it stays the same. The SEO winners are not the ones chasing each new trend and asking the wrong questions. The winners are the ones that commit to their SEO firm and their own business and follow the guidance of the firm they hired. They follow those firms right to top rankings.

So, now that you have asked the right question, made a commitment to the growth of your business and have an SEO firm diligently working for you, and you are just sitting back waiting for the results – you can ponder all you like the details of who’s database is bigger – Yahoo or Google or MSN, as well as all the questions out there people ask daily.

However, with the right SEO Firm – you still don’t need to ask these questions. Questions like is Page-rank still important, how many blogs do I need and how do I use them, and all the others will all be answered. The answer will be in the results the firm got for you based on your cooperation and their knowledge and expertise.

Forget Desperate Housewives – try Desperate SEO Firms – with 64% of clients NOT doing what it takes, no wonder there are rumors of SEO insanity out there. Gain some sanity and take action today to make sure you can ask and answer the right question correctly.

Search engine optimization is an ever-developing science. The strategies that worked well long ago are no longer effective. In fact, many tactics deployed as recently as last year are quickly fading into the annuls of SEO history. Today, if you want your website to rank well in the search engines, you’ll either need to hire an SEO firm or keep abreast of the methods that promise long-term potential. If your website is not doing well in the search engines, it means your SEO efforts are ailing. Here are five symptoms of a sick SEO campaign.

Symptom #1: You Can’t Find Your Website

Naturally, you would like your website listed in Google, Yahoo! and MSN so people can find it easily. Unfortunately, when you search for your target keywords, there’s no trace of it. There are many potential causes and each requires a bit of research. If you work with an SEO firm, they’ll uncover the problem and resolve it. Otherwise, you’ll need to research the problem yourself.

Symptom #2: Your Website Doesn’t Have Incoming Links

Without incoming links, your website has little chance of ever reaching the top positions. What’s more, the links that point to your website must be topically relevant. The best links are those that come from other websites that are deemed authoritative by the search engines. Building links involves creating and executing a link building program that is both ethical and enduring. An experienced SEO firm can handle the task efficiently if you decide you’d rather not spend the time.

Symptom #3: Your Competitor Is Listed Above You

Search engine optimization also entails analyzing your competitor. If your competitor’s website is listed above your own, you’ll lose most of your traffic. The key is to understand that if they’re listed above you, it simply means that their SEO firm is doing something that you’re neglecting.

Symptom #4: You’re Listed, But Traffic Is Low

One of the first things an SEO firm will explain to their clients is that your website can enjoy the top spots for your target keywords, yet receive no traffic. In truth, crafting a compelling title and description for each of your web pages is an often overlooked component of search engine optimization. If you’re partnered with an SEO marketing firm, they’ll be experienced in creating copy that attracts people.

Symptom #5: Your Traffic Isn’t Converting

Getting listed and enjoying the traffic that comes to your website is only half the battle. Your SEO efforts must be rewarded with a positive return on your time, effort and money. Too often, business owners fail to think about how they’ll convert visitors to customers once they arrive from the search engines. This is a critical skill that takes an immense amount of testing and tracking. Many people would rather hire an SEO firm to manage this task.

Is It Time To Hire An SEO Firm?

Becoming adept at search engine optimization is possible as long as you’re willing to learn about the industry, keep up with the changes and adapt as needed. Google, Yahoo! and MSN are constantly changing their algorithms to provide their users with a better experience. If you don’t have time to become an expert, it may be time to hire an SEO firm to help. Doing so may not be the right choice for every business owner, especially those who prefer to do things on their own. But, if you decide to work with an SEO marketing firm, they can manage the arduous tasks of SEO for you.

How to Carry Out Link Building For an Effective SEO Campaign

SEO or search engine optimization is all about enticing the search engine spiders rather than impressing human visitors who come to the site. Link building is one of the most profound methods of achieving this objective. Considering this as an advantage, several website owners and SEO experts implemented every possible way to build links and get more indexing. And then, Google unleashed Penguin and backed it up with a Penguin update. The web world went berserk with turmoil because highly ranked sites sank steadily in rankings and low ranked sites shot up SERPs. So, webmasters and SEO experts had to reboot their link building strategies because they now had to please a bigger and stricter taskmaster – the Penguin.

It is all about quality

In the post Penguin world, link building has to be all about quality of links for an effective SEO campaign. The new search engine algorithm considers the source of visitors. So, if visitors are directed to your website from other highly ranked websites that are relevant to your website niche, you receive a higher ranking. Quantity of links does not matter if you have a few inbound links from .edu, .gov, news based, business and other authoritative websites. These are the toughest to get. If you can crack a deal, you earn a lot of brownie points with the flightless bird.

It is organic all the way

Penguin loves the organic way of life. So, it insists on organic link building, which is a bone of contention among website owners. It is simply not possible to exist in the present world of excessive competition if you stand by and let nature take its course. At the same time, you cannot afford to antagonize with the Penguin. The best you can do is to take measures that can increase the possibility of getting organic links. Some ways are enhancing the quality of content on your website and guest blogging.

Optimize on social media

Sharing on social media can be considered as organic linking. So, the more people share your page, the more links you accumulate. Since Penguin likes websites to build links with the main intention of sharing information, optimizing on social media can be extremely helpful for scaling search engine ranks. Good ways to encourage sharing is to provide tutorials, video guides, podcasts, infographics and other information that your visitors will find worth sharing. These contribute to organic linking.

Diversity counts

You cannot run an effective link building campaign if you have a hundred links from a single high ranked website. You have to ensure diversity of links. You can see better results if you have fifty links from twenty five different websites. Many links from a single source are considered to be spammy and so, they are worthless.

Deep linking

Linking to the home page is not as valuable as linking to the internal pages of a website because the main informative content always lies in the inner pages. Try to get as many internal links as possible.

So, get set to satiate the Penguin. It is not tough, after all.

Link building is an effective and important search engine optimization technique, which can be an integral part of your entire internet marketing campaign. Click on this link to know more!

Tips For Developing Your SEO Campaign Plan

One of the most common mistakes when a company decides to invest in SEO, whether in-house or with an agency is the lack of understanding of the importance of the development of the SEO campaign plan. Often the most difficult core competitive keywords are chosen without considering the issue of profitability, as many companies hope to move up on the search engines for these broad industry keywords. SEO is not just about being seen it has to be about profitability further down the line and this should be central to the development of the SEO campaign plan.

Step 1:
If your company is selling products online the first step is to evaluate which products have a better margin and then go about keyword research. If your company is offering services then the same principle applies, only in evaluating the long-term worth of your potential clients to each service if this applies. The SEO campaign plan should market your most profitable products or services when possible.

Step 2:
Next you need to understand that you must split the keyword that apply to your chosen services or products into core competitive keywords and long-tail keywords. Core competitive keywords will be the more difficult keywords that all your competitors hope to be on page one for as well. The long-tail keywords are less competitive and often by their nature can mean that the person searching is closer to making a decision.

For example a core competitive keyword for a ladies clothes website will be dress, whereas a long-tail keyword for the same website will be one one-shoulder dress or halter neck dress. These long-tail keywords have a higher chance of moving up the rankings of the search engines faster and additionally as the lady searching is looking for a specific style of dress there should be a higher chance that she is ready to buy.

Step 3:
When it comes to deciding your keywords, both the core competitive keywords and the long-tail keywords to include in your SEO campaign plan there are some shortcuts. If you are already running a pay per click campaign you can evaluate the keywords within this campaign in terms of cost effectiveness.

Look at the cost per conversion if you have this information available and you should notice that the long-tail keywords will have a lower cost per conversion, the same principle will apply to your SEO campaign plan. It applies in a different way as you will either be investing a cost in an agency or in-house over a period of time.

Step 4:
Mix and match some different approaches to gathering keyword data. Combine what you have decided from your website and ppc campaign, if you have one and use the following free tools.

You can search on the search engines and you will find a variety of free keyword tools, some of which are very good. In general these offer the more high traffic keywords so to create long-tail keywords you will need to use ppc data or be creative.

Try to step out of your own mindset and put yourself into a potential buyers’ frame of mind. Some search very broadly yet others can be surprisingly specific!

Five things to avoid in SEO campaign

Iced tea at Georgia’s, version 2
SEO Campaign
This is an edited version of the original photo, which you can see here. I wanted to reduce the dark shadows on the woman’s pants, so you could see more detail there … but I may have taken away too much of the shadow on her face. I’ll let you be the judge…

This was taken at the deli/bakery (Georgia’s, click here for details) on the southwest corner of 89th & Broadway. This woman was sitting alone, staring into space with a dreamy look on her face, and she would have appeared much more photogenic if I could have moved my camera a little faster and snapped the picture. But then a waiter appeared, bring what turned out to be a glass of ice tea; and he obscured my view of her for a couple moments while he was setting it down. But the time he got out of camera range, she had picked up her cell phone, and was calling someone … perhaps to report on the arrival of her ice tea…

This is an evolving photo-project, which will probably continue throughout the summer of 2008, and perhaps beyond: a random collection of "interesting" people in a broad stretch of the Upper West Side of Manhattan — between 72nd Street and 104th Street, especially along Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.

I don’t like to intrude on people’s privacy, so I normally use a telephoto lens in order to photograph them while they’re still 50-100 feet away from me; but that means I have to continue focusing my attention on the people and activities half a block away, rather than on what’s right in front of me.

I’ve also learned that, in many cases, the opportunities for an interesting picture are very fleeting — literally a matter of a couple of seconds, before the person(s) in question move on, turn away, or stop doing whatever was interesting. So I’ve learned to keep the camera switched on (which contradicts my traditional urge to conserve battery power), and not worry so much about zooming in for a perfectly-framed picture … after all, once the digital image is uploaded to my computer, it’s pretty trivial to crop out the parts unrelated to the main subject.

For the most part, I’ve deliberately avoided photographing bums, drunks, drunks, and crazy people. There are a few of them around, and they would certainly create some dramatic pictures; but they generally don’t want to be photographed, and I don’t want to feel like I’m taking advantage of them. I’m still looking for opportunities to take some "sympathetic" pictures of such people, which might inspire others to reach out and help them. We’ll see how it goes …

The only other thing I’ve noticed, thus far, is that while there are lots of interesting people to photograph, there are far, far, *far* more people who are *not* so interesting. They’re probably fine people, and they might even be more interesting than the ones I’ve photographed … but there was just nothing memorable about them.

Why SEO in London will survive change

SEO in London is rapidly changing from year to year as big search engine optimization companies, such as Google and Bing, come out with new policies on how they calculate search page results and implement plans to change algorithms. While some experts in London may have expressed concern that SEO keywords may be of lesser importance in the future, business owners who use SEO and depend on SEO in London should have no reason to fear.

SEO will not die. It is; however, evolving as technology is evolving. It will be around in some form without any worry of disappearing anytime soon. There have already been some businesses who have begun to implement other SEO changes on order to compensate for the still popular method of using long-tail kite SEO phrases.

Businesses depend on SEO in London too much for SEO to disappear

Businesses need SEO in order to attract customer’s attention. Whether a business uses SEO in their meta links for their website or in their back link methods, there will always be a percentage of customers who prefer SEO keywords to other popular ways of delivering methods in SEO London. In a busy society, a business may need certain keywords to pop out and attract a customer’s attention.

Businesses still need SEO keywords in order to have a successful SEO campaign – whether they are launching it on their own website or hosting a contest on Facebook to attract new customers to try their services or their products. Visual cues are nice, but customers still like to read SEO keywords in order to research certain products and services and, in some cases, feel a connection to a company.

Using keywords are one of the most inexpensive methods of delivery

If you plan to launch any type of campaign, using social media online or offline, keywords are still an effective way of delivering SEO information to customer. Business owners can introduce customers to products without even giving any sales pitch and still effectively use targeted keywords. Google SEO is a common phrase around the web, SEO stands for search engine optimisation and when it comes to optimising a website there is only one search engine you need to consider and that is Google. This is because it has a 80-85% search share and is the only real search engine worth targeting.

Many people know little bits of SEO but few really know how to run through a full campaign maximising every ranking opportunity. You see SEO is not about providing one big hit, it is consistently and continually building your sites relevance and authority. It takes time to rank for keywords on Google but following these guidelines will set you on the correct tracks.

The first thing you need to think about is keyword research, use the different tools available online to help you narrow down the most relevant keywords to your content. You need to be looking at search traffic and keyword competition, looking for a good mixture of competitive terms and more niche terms. The Google keyword tool is a great place to discover new keywords and quickly assess there competition.

You will then need to analyse the competition also targeting that keyword, what are they doing well, how many links do they have, what areas of their page are optimised and where can I beat them? This will also give you the ideal opportunity to discover new keywords from your competitors content and meta data.

Now is the time to optimise your on page content. You should include keywords in your title tag, headings, alt attributes, and in the main body content. Also look to bold some on page keywords and create outbound links to relevant sources using the anchor text of your keywords.

If you want your site to rank highly your going to have to build links to your site. Article marketing, directory submissions, blog carnivals, guest posting, commenting and press releases are all ways to get those desired backlinks. You should be looking for a place on your site to create quality content, content that encourages other webmasters to link back to your site, therefore increasing the rankings naturally.

Last but not least you need to check on the health of your site. Duplicate title tags, URLs or meta tags could result in a Google penalty. Check for broken links and faulty redirects or misplaced robots.txt files. All these if not implemented correctly will prevent Google from indexing your site correctly, which you will miss out on traffic. Following this simple structure should ensure you are heading in the right direction with your Google SEO campaign.

With the increasing use of the internet, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become an important technique for marketing products or services. To cater to this need, many companies have mushroomed, providing specialized SEO services at appealing prices. While these companies provide several advantages, it is critical to know about the important qualities that you should look for in an SEO company before hiring it.

The primary thing to look for in any SEO company should be the way it functions and whether it is ethical or not. Although an unethical technique might be able to yield results quickly, it can easily lead to search engine penalties, and might even create a bad impression on potential customers. The right way of attracting a lot of visitors is to select strategies that are well accepted, along with focusing on the standard of your website. The lawful practices are those that make use of good content targeted at certain keywords, the appropriate utilisation of Meta tags, and creating inbound links.

The SEO company must always stress on unique website content, which must have the required presence of keywords spread out naturally. These two factors are very important when it comes to raising the rank of your web pages on search results. Moreover, as content sharing plays a key role in SEO nowadays, the firm should be able to effectively use publicity material like articles and videos for free circulation.

The SEO company has to be updated with the latest technological developments and be able to offer end-to-end SEO services to you. Understanding your business, carrying out research work for discovering keywords that are often used by customers, and then detailing plans for getting in additional visitors to the site are all an integral part of that.

Knowledge of the different SEO tools and the best means to utilize them effectively will help create a successful SEO campaign. Having a good team with experience and skill to make the right choices of SEO techniques in different situations is the hallmark of a good SEO company.

Finally, it must always be remembered that SEO services can not be used once and then forgotten; instead, the firms should look to serve the customers on a regular basis. To deal with the modifications in the algorithms used by search engines, you must always keep optimizing and realigning your site to remain above the competition and that’s where an SEO company plays a crucial role.

The internet has brought greater advantages for both big and small businesses. Not only that, it has been regarded as a giant medium for communication and research. It also brought about the new business strategy which we call digital marketing.

The concept of digital marketing is an advanced business approach making use of the latest technologies. This strategy makes use of the portable devices other than PC that can access the internet anytime and anywhere. Digital marketing is considered to provide more open opportunities to attract potential customers as well.

But take heed of this advice. To improve exposure of your web business, you need to implement better SEO techniques. That is why, many SEO firms do take time to update about the latest trends in internet marketing and search engine optimisation. SEO is not easy as 1-2-3 as this takes time and undergoes meticulous processes.

With that, in order to improve your business, this article will lay down the basics of right SEO campaign techniques that can be of great help.

Right and Relevant Keywords

Among the basic SEO techniques is choosing the right and relevant keywords to use on your business niche. Keywords are the life and blood of your business and it drives traffic or the target audiences to visit your site. To get keywords, there are free keyword generating tools you can initially use, such as Google’s Keyword Adword tool or you may even use the specialised keyword softwares which allow you to personalize your sets of keywords.

No to Keyword jam-packing

Too much is not always good. Before, stuffing keywords in the content was good as this made the site get indexed. But search engines’ algorithms have changed the way they work behind the scenes when it comes to digital marketing. Over stuffing of keywords can lead the site to lower rankings instead of pushing it up. Therefore, as much as possible never opt to do such as this, which can hugely affect your business.

Human generated contents and links improves business exposure

Before, we use the convenience of automated softwares for effective production of contents and links. However, Google’s algorithm updates and other search engines can now detect “bot” produced contents and links that results to un-indexing and lowering the rank of the site. Therefore, manually generated links and contents are always better to help you improve your campaign.

Get Updated

Make it a habit to always update yourself with all the latest trends in Internet marketing as well as better SEO campaigning. Google and other search engines never get tired of making modifications, research and studies when it comes to algorithms. Hence, the more you know about it, the better you become prepared in developing strategies to improve your business campaigns.

These are some of the basic trade secrets in implementing right SEO campaigning. To learn more about it, you can always find help from the SEO experts and have them assist you in getting your business recognised the way you have always wanted.
